Outrunner Motor Adapters

An ourunner motor is a motor in which the rotor bell rotates on the outside. This is done by flipping where the magnets and windings are located as shown in the picture on the right. In order to mount the motor assembly onto a baseplate and output the rotation of the rotor bell, adapters need to be created. The purpose of this project was to create those adapters, ensure they met the required load conditions, and create drawings to outsource production to suppliers.

In order to create a mounting surface, this adapter was designed to allow a link attachment while maintaining a height in line with the top of the rotor bell.

Another mounting point was the bottom of the motor, where it would be connected to the baseplate. In order to do this, another adapter had to be created.
