Car Modifications

As a kid I have always loved cars, and made it my goal to own a sports car. After saving up enough money I was able to purchase an Audi TT Quattro 3.2L V6. In my quest to customize this car I have made a few modifications to perfectly tune this car to my liking. I have also been doing most of the maintenance myself, such as cleaning, oil changes, wheel rotations/changes, and many other odd tasks here and there.

Misaligned Rear Light

I noticed that there was a large gap between my trunk and right tail light and when compared to the left side, it was clear that the tail light was out of place. After removing the tail light I noticed that the plastic bracket had broken (and that my car was incredibly dirty).

Replacement tail lights for an Audi TT cost at least $600 so I decided to fix the issue myself. Firstly, I aligned the bracket with the hole that fixes the tail lights into the housing, and marked where on the tail light the bracket should be. I then 3D printed a jig which held everything in place while I used a plastic adhesive and filler compound to reconnect the pieces. Finally, I filled in all gaps and added some extra support structures to prevent this issue from occuring again. The result: a properly aligned and secure tail light!
